We have determined that you are....

The Sports Enthusiast

You are in your element when you are active and feel every muscle in your body working.  The great outdoors, sun, earth, wind, and water are your favorite playground. When you are active you feel most alive and refreshed. Always looking for the next thrill, you love pushing your body to its limits. You enjoy physical challenge and are happy to try new trends and sports. Your ideal vacation would probably combine intense action with tranquility and include one or more of the following activities: running, bicycling, walking, hiking, and sailing, wind surfing, kite surfing, diving, tennis and horse riding…

Sports lovers of all sorts and ages, beginners or advanced, Paros is your dream destination!

Paros is famous for its fierce winds. The ‘meltemi’ (strong north winds) blows steadily from June until August, making the island a natural paradise for windsurfers and kite surfers alike!

Kite-surfing enthusiasts meet in Pounta on the west coast, a top, world-class location for the sport, whereas the east coast (Chryssi Akti, Tserdakia) is an all-time favorite for wind-surfers and many-a-time World Windsurfing Cup venue! Still, depending on the winds’ direction, there are more fabulous locations for you to discover, some with windsurfing stations and facilities and some completely wild!

Best beaches: Golden Beach (Chrissi Akti), New Golden Beach (Tserdakia), Pounta port, Santa Maria, Tsoukalia… Let the winds lead you to the right place!

If you’re into Water Sports, Paros will get you soaked!

Whether you want to ride the waves or just feel like playing with the surf, there are plenty of water-sports facilities on some of the finest beaches on the island (Chryssi Akti, Tserdakia, Kolymbithres, Monastiri, Santa Maria, Faragas). Enjoy first-class water-skiing or wakeboarding, in the clear turquoise water while pleasing the eye with amazing coastal landscapes!

Scuba diving lovers:

The island has many shallow and protected bays and coves, with clear blue waters and beautiful underwater seascapes. More than 5 certified diving schools operate on Paros, in Golden Beach, New Golden Beach, Santa Maria,  Alyki and Pounta  port.  Please note that free scuba diving is prohibited in certain areas of Greece (Hellas) due to the existence of marine antiquities. Such is the area between Paros and Antiparos.

Horse riding is your favorite:

Two great horse riding clubs exist on Paros on the east side close to Ampelas.

Tennis is your sport

Besides the tennis courts in the big hotels, Paros has a good tennis club near Paroikia, organizing open tournaments every summer.

Sailing & Boat trips

The Paros Yachting Club offers sailing courses all-year round, and sail- and motor-boat chartering is widely available, if you consult with any of the island’s travel agencies. There are many islets and quiet, undiscovered coves and beaches, as well as majestic sea views, around Paros and Antiparos, and the uninhabited island of Despotiko west of Antiparos is definitely worth a boat-trip. For open sea enthusiasts, Paros’s position in the center of the Cyclades group of islands and the South Aegean Sea, make it an ideal departure point or hub for sailing or motor -boat cruising, island-hopping  or even  longer trips!
